Inquiry
I choose to work on factory farming because I found it the most interesting out of all of them and I don't think it should still be happening.
When working with the group I choose to work on the video that we are going to share at assembly.
The way my group worked together was alright because we got all the work done but it could have happened faster and better.
Next time that I am in a group I will need to communicate more so that we get the work done .
I predict that our group will do well and raise some money for world animal protection.
I feel good about how our groups effort was because we put in lots of time and in the end it turned out great. I cant wait to fundraise for world animal protection.

Art
For art we have been doing print making. I chose to do my this print because it is of my dog. Next time I think I should wait until the first colour was fully dry until I did my next coat with a different colour. I had fun while I was making it.

Social dancing
This term we have been learning social dancing. We have done about 8-9 dances so far. We do social dancing because at the end of the year we have a social. I had never done social dancing before so I didn't know what to expect. Before we started I was excited because it was my first time doing this. When we are doing social dancing without partners I feel happy but not as happy when we have to do partner dances. I don't know why I feel like that. Social Dancing would be better if we had no partners dancing. I hope it is fun.

Axolotls
Intro
Axolotls look like an easy pet to look after but you still need to get lots of things right before it becomes happy. They are great once you get used to them.
Appearance
Axolotls can be many different colours such as Gray, black, white, creamy white and brown. Their eye colours are either white or black. They have 6 gills on the side of their head they breath from them. They stick out of their head they have 3 on each side there frilly. They have an eel like figure. Some axolotls can even grow as big as eels.
Diet
They are carnivores and they can be cannibalistic. Anything moving that is smaller than them they usually eat it. Their teeth are are made to grip not chew because they swallow their food hole.Axolotls eat food weather it is dead or alive. The teeth they have are not sharp enough to pierce through humans skin.
Habitat
It is very important that they have the right water temperature. If the water is 24 or above they will get stressed and die. Also if the water is below 10 degrees the axolotls will eat less food or sometimes even stop eating all together .The right temperature is between 15-18 degrees. If the water flow is to heavy it causes one of the biggest stress-related disease in axolotls. It is important to have the right habitat for an axolotl.
Predators
Older axolotls eat the younger ones. Fish nibble and nip on the axolotls gills. Axolotls are cannibalistic so they eat each other. Once they have laid the eggs they eat them so it is important that you remove the adults from the tank while they grow. Most things that are bigger than the axolotls and are put in the tank with them eat them.
conclusion
Axolotls are a bit of work at the start but after a while they become easy to look after.

Zoo Writing
We all thought that zoo’s were great at some point, looking after the animals, being friendly to them, and teaching them tricks. But no! Not many people know what goes on after hours at the zoo. It is not good. My three main points may change your minds about zoos for the best.
Zoos often keep animals in small enclosures for long periods of time. They paint fake backgrounds to look like their natural surrounding, but the animals are not dumb they know that it is fake. They get put in little cages which is not good. I think Elephants and cheetahs especially don't belong in zoos because elephants are use to traveling very long distances in a herd each day, Cheetahs are used to having all the space they want to run as fast as they can chasing prey.
Animals living in zoos have a shorter lifespan than animals living in the wild. Many are getting sick and stressing out. They are getting zoochosis which means they suffer from bordism and start stressing more . Lots of animals are living on concreted floors in zoos. That is not natural.
Zoos are cruel to animals. They put them in little cages in the winter and in the summer they are kept in small rooms with fake paintings of animals so they think they are not alone. They feed them bad food and many get left for long periods of time with no water . An example of that was when a tiger died in a zoo a few years ago from getting feed bad food . On the counter side you may think zoos are a good place for animals but no.The animals would much rather be out in the wild where they can catch their prey instead of getting bored doing nothing other than entertaining you!
Those are my reasons for getting rid of zoos. I hope this has changed your mind about zoos for the best.

Commonwealth Games
Commonwealth Games Are Here To Stay!!!
I think the Commonwealth Games are important so I think we should keep it going. I want the rest of the world to be convinced that we should keep the Commonwealth Games.
One of my main points is that I think we should keep the Commonwealth Games because it gives smaller countries a chance. In the Olympics lots of the small counties get left out or never win because of the big countries. The big countries have more money so they can buy all the equipment to practice with so they have a bigger chance of winning.
The Commonwealth Games are a good practice for the Olympics. Also it gives a practice run for beginners that leads to the Olympics. It gets New Zealand a chance for more medals. The sports that aren't in the Olympics a chance to shine in their sport.
On the counter side the athletes think it is expensive, but they have to remember that they get sponsors so the will take away lots of the cost. Some say we already have the Olympics so why do we need the Commonwealth Games, but I say that all of the sports don't get to play in the Olympics miss out so its a good way to show their talent to the world.
I really think we should
keep the Commonwealth Games going for all my reasons. Can YOU image the sad faces on all the competitors if you told them that the Commonwealth Games were stopping? And I think most people will agree to keep the Commonwealth Games going for a lot longer.

The one I was worst at was shot put I got 1.34 meters. My favourite one was long jump but it was really tiddly winks I did alright in that. Digestive System
The digestive system is the way food gets around in your body . There are five main parts that the food goes through before it comes out the exit.
The first thing that happens in the digestive system is saliva forms from the smell of the food you are about to put in your mouth. When the food is in your mouth the saliva helps the food dissolve to get ready to be chewed. The food gets chewed and goes into little particles of food.
Once the food is small enough the tongue pushes it down the oesophagus that is when you are swallowing it. The muscles in the throat push the food down until it gets to the stomach.
When the food is in the stomach it gets broken down even more than before. It happens by your stomach churning (breaks it down) until it turns into stomach acid.
After all that there is still more to happen. The small intestine is filled with millions of tiny villi that will suck up the nutrients that will go through your bloodstream. First the food goes through the small intestine then the large intestine. The large intestine absorbs the water out of the food left with liquid in it.
The exit is the way the waste gets out of your body. The exit is known as the bum and the waste is commonly known as poop.
Eating, swallowing, stomach, intestines, exit are the five parts the food goes through in the body that is the digestive system.

Ripper Reflection
Ripper Reflection
In the last two weeks of P.E we have been learning some ripper skills. First we practiced how to throw the rugby ball then did some actives on throwing the rugby ball back not forwards and then we learnt how to rip the rips of the other team with the ball. To throw the ball you swing the ball across your body to throw. That was what we were learning for the first session.
The next 3 sessions were on actually playing a game of ripper. I was nervous when we were playing against room 15 a year 8 class, but in the end we bet them. I was happy at how much I learnt because I didn't know how to throw a rugby ball until we played ripper.
This is a flipagram of our class playing ripper

Baby Cousin Charlotte
Charlotte my little cousin who is 1 in June got dropped of by my auntie Anna because Anna was going out for the day (we thought). Anna said “bye” and walked out the door.
My mum got Charlotte ready and I got Daisy my dog ready to go for a walk in the park. Charlotte was fine for a while but then she started to cry so we turned around and walked home.
Once we got home we put her on the floor then my dog daisy came up to her then lay down beside her, Charlotte kept trying to grab daisey’s lip after a while she got it and she kept giggling Daisy didn't care. Once she got bored with that she started pulling fluff from the carpet and put it into her mouth. So we thought she must had been hungry so
It was time for her to go to have her milk then go to bed. She had just learnt how to hold her bottle but still needed help to tip it up when there is not much left.
Charlotte very slowly drank the milk. Mum and I put her in her bed then quietly went out but just as we were shutting the door she started to cry. We left her for a while because Anna should have been be back soon. But the we found out Anna was out for the night we were going to have Charlotte for the night…..
Surprisingly she sleep without waking until 6:00 in the morning . Anna came early to pick her up. My favorite part was when she was pulling daisy’s lip. We enjoyed having her!

Kotahitonga Reflection
On Wednesday we were manuhiri. We had to wait to be called by the tangata whenua because we were the visitors. I think we did good at being respectful the whole time the powhiri was on and when the kotiro the girls had to hongi each other and when the tama the boys had to hongi each other. We needed to practice or change the song He Honore because we were too quite. I felt excited because it was my fist time doing a Powhiri.
On Thursday we were the tagata whenua we had to call on the manuhiri because were were the Hosts we brought kai for after the powhiri. I think we were good at our song this time because we changed it to Te Aroha. Ruma Wha were good at the song especially because they had a haka at the end of there song. At the end of kotahitanga week,I am feeling good at how we did The only bad thing that happened was the first song we sung.

Reading
Reading
Summarising is something you do when have read a book or watched a video and someone wants the key information in a short version of what you saw or read.
Key words are a only a few words out of what you saw but they have to be words that have lots of information.
Summarising is important because its taking the key words out then putting it into your own words.
I found difficult only taking a few words out of the video that are key words.

My Predication On Athletics
My Predication On Athletics
Next week is HNI athletics day I am scared and excited. I am looking forwards to high jump this year. I am really not looking forwards to both of the throwing events shot put and discus because I am not a good thrower especially not at these two throwing events. On the day I think I will do alright at 100 and 200 meter sprints and high jump. When we were practicing I surprised my self at long jump because I wasn't good last year at it and this year I think I did better. I need to practice my shot-put and discus before next Tuesday when the athletics is. For the 100 meter and 200 meter sprint I am a bit scared for it but I think I will do fine.

Soft Ball
I have become better at Hitting with the bat in soft ball . When I first started the session batting I was not very good but now I have learnt skills from Alex our coach. So now I can hit the ball much better than before and I am more confident at batting.
Now I need to learn to catch the ball with the glove because I am not use to it yet and it just feels like an extra big hand in the way, But I think after a while it will help me catch better.
During the next session,I will focus on using the glove to catch the balls so I don't drop them or miss them. I think I have improved in batting and I can't wait till the next lesson.

Te Reo Conversations
Reflection:
I Think we did well pronouncing the words. But I think we could of spoke louder so the camera could hear us.
I really think we spoke all the words correctly for all the sentences and we all asked each other lots of things.
We probably could have spoke a bit slower and clearer.
We were very confident speaking and acting all the words out.

To Compete
To compete or not compete
The winter Olympics have started and are being held in Sochi Russia athletes have been complaining about the slope style course being to hard. Some of the athletes have even pulled out.
If you competed and you got injured it could be the end of your career or even just a serious injury could stop you winning any medals in slope style. your sponsors might leave you if you don’t win or get injured and if the athletes think its scary and dangerous it must be . So that's why my choice would be to not compete in the slope style competition.
If you competed and got seriously injured it could affect your confidence in competing in other races. Also if the other competitors pull out and you win you won’t feel like you truly won the competition.
Lots of people say that they should still compete because they want to represent there country well but if you compete you might never get to represent your country again if you get injured.
So those are my reasons for not competing in the slope style competition.
